WALLA WALLA -- Heart disease is the No.1 killer of women each year, taking the life of one in every three women. Walla Walla General Hospital is hoping to change that statistic by raising community awareness, said Kristi Spurgeon Johnson, director of marketing and communication for the hospital.
During February, the hospital is offering free screenings in its "HealthVan" mobile health screening center throughout the community to help people identify risk factors relating to heart disease.
Community members can have their blood pressure, cholesterol, and blood sugar checked at the mobile center and learn what steps to take if they have elevated numbers.
The HealthVan will be open for business on:
Feb. 20, 1-5 p.m., Walmart.
Feb. 21, 11 a.m.-2 p.m., Safeway on Rose Street.
Feb. 21, 4-7 p.m., Safeway on Plaza Way.
