Helix boys fall to Ione Friday

HELIX - Ione pumped home 30 first-quarter points here in Big Sky boys basketball action Friday.

Ione never let off gas as Ione defeated Helix, 104-41.

"They are a good team," Grizzlies coach Brooke Garton said. "I was impressed with their sportsmanship, but we just gave up a lot of easy buckets."

Eleven of the 12 Ione players scored, as Ione put up 20 or more in each quarter.

For Helix, Zach Sundin led the Grizzlies with 18 points and freshman Dusty Bennett chipped in 16 points.

"Dusty really stepped up," Garton said. "He had a nice game."

Helix traveled to Moro Saturday to wrap up the season with a battle against Sherman County.
