Touchet school chief race narrows to three

The School Board will conduct interviews of the finalists early next month.

TOUCHET - Touchet School officials Wednesday announced the names of finalists for district superintendent.

Last week the board reviewed applications and selected three finalists.

Interviews of the candidates will be conducted in Touchet on March 9.

The finalists are Susan Bell, assistant superintendent in Omak; Thaynan Knowlton, Goldendale primary school principal; and Chris Martinson, Pasco School District director of career and technical education.

Bell has been assistant superintendent for the Omak district since 2007. Previously she was principal at Cedarcrest Middle School in Marysville, and assistant principal of Evergreen Middle School in Everett.

Knowlton has held his present position in Goldendale since 2004. His previous positions include director of curriculum, instruction and assessment for the Goldendale School District and regional assessment trainer for Educational Service District 105 in Yakima.

Martinson has been the director of career and technical education at the Pasco School District for 10 years. Prior to that he was vocational coordinator for the Pasco School District, and assistant principal/director of the Clark County Skills Center.

Touchet School is operating with part-time Interim Superintendent Skip Berquam this year, following the resignation last spring of Superintendent Dan McDonald.
