SPOKANE - Two Wa-Hi wrestlers will head to the state tournament as alternates after finishing fourth at the regional tourney Saturday.
Logan Reardon was fourth at 215 pounds and Gerald Maib fourth at 285 to head to Tacoma.
Nason Babbitt placed sixth at 140 and Ryan Evans was fifth at 152.
"It was a tough weekend for us, but the guys all wrestled fine," said Wa-Hi coach Clayton Hudiburg. "I am proud of the accomplishments that these guys made this season."
Wa-Hi finished 11th out of the 13 competing teams.
"In November, nobody on the team would have been a candidate for this kind of success based on previous performances," Hudiburg said. "We made great progress this year, but simply ran out of time and fell a little short of making it to the big show. The guys should all walk away with their heads held high."
Reardon and Maib can compete at state if another athlete from the region is injured or doesn't make weight, Hudiburg said.
