Quick start doesn't hold up for Mac-Hi girls

LA GRANDE - It was a night where Mac-Hi's girls basketball team looked like it might score its first win of the season after one quarter, but then things fell apart for the Pioneers in a 67-27 loss to La Grande on the road.

"It wasn't the greatest game we have had," said Mac-Hi head coach Casey Richards. "Things looked great for a quarter, but then we just didn't keep our defense up like we had."

The Pioneers were led by a strong night from Eloisa Meza, who notched seven points and three assists.

A 23-3 second quarter was the demise for Mac-Hi, which has one last shot to score its first victory against Baker at home on Friday.

"We still believe," Richards said. "We can make this happen."
