PENDLETON - Weston-McEwen's girls basketball team lost to Enterprise in the first round of Blue Mountain Conference district play Friday night.

Enterprise, the No. 2 team in the BMC, topped W-M, the No. 3 team, 44-41.

The TigerScots had a 24-17 lead heading into the half, but Enterprise came out ready and held W-M to three points, all free throws, in the third, while scoring 10 of their own.

"That didn't help much," said W-M coach Amber Dormeus.

Although W-M recovered to score 14 in the fourth, the damage was done and Enterprise held onto its lead with a 17-point quarter of its own.

"We were right in it," Dormeus said. "We got a good look at the end and it just didn't gall. We made a few mistakes here and there, and it was a really tough game."

Enterprise was ranked No. 7 in Oregon as of Friday night.

The TigerScots already have a state playoff lock. They played Heppner at 1 p.m. Saturday at the Pendleton Convention Center.

"We're proud of the way the girls played," Dormeus said. "We knew it would be a really tough game, so to be within three is really good."
