Aug. 26, 1929 - Feb. 13, 2011

Frank Alexander Laufer passed away quietly Feb. 13, 2011, from
health complications.
Son of Alexander and Mabel Laufer, he was born at home on Cherry Street and lived his entire life in Walla Walla.

He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Betty Lee James Laufer; and children, Linda Bayer and Frankie Laufer; granddaughters, Billie Jo Bradford and Julie Garrett. He was preceded in death by a daughter,
Susan Denny; and brothers, Merwin LaVerne and Edward; and step-father, John Hill.

He worked at Bur Bee's and Holsum Bread and owned the Farmers Market in Milton-Freewater, Laufers Magnavox and the Log Inn Tavern.
Later in life he was a manager at Pacific Fruit and Produce. He married his high school sweetheart, Betty Lee. Their first date was at the Liberty Theatre. He was a star baseball player at Walla Walla High School and also in his younger years enjoyed fishing. One of his pleasures was going to the Log Inn Tavern in the mornings to play pool with his many friends. Many of the town's problems real or imagined were solved over coffee and humor.

No service is planned but a celebration of his life will take place at a date to be determined.
Memorial donations in his name can made to The Blue Mountain Humane Society or Friends of Pioneer Park Aviary Fund through the Herring Funeral Home.
