The East End Rod and Gun Club will sponsor the "Women on Target" event on May 7. A morning session will be filled first and, if there is enough interest, an afternoon session will be scheduled.
Cost for the event will be $5, said Verl Pressnall, club president. Participants under 18 must be accompanied by a parent. Male parents may bring a child and register with them, but may not participate.
Each clinic will begin with a talk on firearms safety and familiarization followed by range orientation and range etiquette. Participants will then break into groups and go to the pistol, rifle and shotgun stations for instruction and live fire. One hour will be allowed at each station.
A lunch break from noon to 1 p.m. will take place between the morning and afternoon sessions.
Presnell said interested women should sign up as soon as possible. "We do fill up pretty fast," he said. Last year's clinic had 44 participants and this year the club is limiting participation to 60 people.
Registration forms can be downloaded from the club's website. Information is available by e-mailing firstname.lastname@example.org or at 541-203-0124.
