WALLULA JUNCTION - A collision between two semis Thursday morning brought in Department of Ecology crews to clean up 200 gallons of diesel oil near the Columbia River.
Just before 9 a.m. at mile post 1 of State Route 730, Irene C. Romero, 43, of College Place was attempting to turn her semi around in the road, but failed to see another approaching semi carrying potatoes and driven by Vidal Silva Fuentes, 38, of Hermiston, according to a Walla Walla County Sheriff's report.
The collision resulted with Fuentes' rig turning over and spilling oil in a ditch along the river side of the road.
Neither driver reported injuries, but both were transported to Providence St. Mary Medical Center as a precaution.
Washington Department of Transportation, Union Pacific Railroad and private spill contractors were also called in for the clean up.
The Department of Ecology reported the site was cleaned with no oil entering the Columbia River.
