Rising Sun Clubhouse in Walla Walla offers a variety of support programs that help those receiving mental health and vocational rehab services with transitional, supported and independent employment in an environment that empowers them to reach their potential while regaining their dignity and self-respect and rediscovering their abilities.
Its members also participate with staffers in clubhouse business. It's open from 8:30 a.m.-2:30 p.m. Monday-Friday and features lunch daily at noon at 35 W. Chestnut St.
The clubhouse is in need of continuing financial support in order to offer this assistance from a stable financial base according to an appeal from Charlie Eichler, board president, and Don Nichols, manager. For more details, call 529-0120.

NAMI of Walla Walla will hold a meet, greet and eat at 6:30 p.m. Jan. 26 at Sonbridge, 1200 S.E. 12th St., College Place. There will be a potluck dinner, followed at about 7:15 p.m. with annual reports and election of 2011 officers and board members.
Among its activities, NAMI hosted a Christmas party at the Jonathan M. Wainwright Memorial Veterans Affairs Medical Center for 65 members of Rising Sun Clubhouse and veterans from the VA.
They enjoyed a lasagna dinner and provided gift bags and door prizes.
This grassroots group encourages friends, families and those living with mental illness to participate in its activities.
The group advocates for specific causes to reduce stigma and increase awareness of mental illness, according to its newsletter.
It offers support, education and advocacy for folks with major depression, schizophrenia and bipolar, obsessive compulsive, panic, posttraumatic stress and borderline personality disorders.
