Herschel F. "Hersch" Fullerton, Jr., Walla Walla, passed away Dec. 20, 2010, at his home at the age of 69 years. A time of remembrance will be held at the Walla Walla Senior Center, 720 Sprague, on Saturday, Jan. 8, 2011, from 2-4 p.m. Inurnment will be in the American Legion Circle of Honor at City View Cemetery in Salem, Ore. Memorial contributions may be made to the St. Mary Regional Cancer Center (Special Needs) through the Munselle-Rhodes Funeral Home, 902 S. Main, Milton-Freewater, OR 97862.
Mr. Fullerton was born March 8, 1941, in Walla Walla, the son of Herschel F. and Florence J. Endicott Fullerton. He grew up in Milton-Freewater where he graduated from McLoughin Union High School in 1959.
Following an honorable discharge from the U.S. Navy on Dec. 14, 1963, he enrolled in Portland State University from which he received a B.A. in 1968.
He retired as service manager of Salem Nissan in 2001 and returned to the Walla Walla Valley where he managed Golden West Estates from 2002 until the time of his death.
On Sept. 25, 2004, he married Claudine Remillard in Milton-Freewater. He was a member of St. James Episcopal Church, a twice Commander of American Legion Capital Post #9 in Salem, Chef de Gare of 40/8 Salem, Grand Chef de Gar of 40/8 for the State of Oregon, Vice President of the Walla Walla Area Crime Watch, Volunteer of the Year for Washington State Crime Prevention Association, President of the Board of Directors of the Walla Walla Senior Center, and a member of the 2010 Sherwood Trust Community Leadership Program.
He is survived by his wife, Claudine at the home; a daughter Kelli Stockwell, of Grande Ronde, Ore., step-daughter Joelle Bray; a step-son Michael Remillard; a sister Susan Bradbury, all of Walla Walla; three grandchildren; seven step-grandchildren; and two nieces.
