State reinstates license of former St. Mary radiologist

The Washington state Department of Health has reinstated the license of Dr. David Shoemaker, formerly of Providence St. Mary Medical Center.

Shoemaker's license to practice as a radiologist was suspended in December 2007 after the state's Medical Assurance Commission found the physician to be lacking in training in radiology.

In recent months Shoemaker was able to show the board he has completed a one-year clinical fellowship in vascular and interventional radiology at Columbia University Medical Center, and was board certified by the American Board of Radiology in November.

In the order signed Dec. 13, the state deemed Shoemaker's license is now without conditions or limitations.
