Ralph "Brandy" and Genevieve "Jennie" Brandon of Walla Walla celebrated their 65th wedding anniversary at a family dinner on Thanksgiving Day.
The couple met at the skating rink in Walla Walla in 1945, when Brandy was stationed at the Walla Walla Air Base as an officer and navigator with the 4th Air Force on a B-24 bomber. The couple wed Jan. 5, 1946, at St. Francis Catholic Church in Walla Walla. Jennie's maiden name is Lamperti.
Brandy was born and raised in Berwick, Pa. He was a production supervisor from 1946 for the Birds Eye division of General Foods and retired from General Foods. He then was production manager for D&K Foods, Inc. until retiring in 1987.
He is a member of the Elks Lodge and St. Patrick Catholic Church. He enjoys woodworking, growing roses, vegetable gardening, attending sporting events, traveling and yard work.
Jennie was a homemaker until their children were in college. She worked at Kmart for 31/2 years and as receptionist and bookkeeper for Dr. Ralph Stevens and Dr. Cliff Hogenson, retiring in 1992.
She is a member of St. Patrick Catholic Church. She enjoys collecting snow babies and angels, cooking and baking, her yard and flowers and time with family, especially her grandchildren.
They have a son, Robert Brandon of Spokane; two daughters, Judy Gallo of Walla Walla and Sharon Brandon of Kennewick; three grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
