WALLA WALLA -- There was sunshine this morning. But unfortunately it's not forecast to last.
A "complex and active weather pattern" is due to hit late today with a mixed bag of snow, freezing rain and rain tonight. Precipitation is expected to change entirely to rain by Wednesday with little or no ice accumulation.
According to the National Weather Service, the wet weather will continue through the rest of the week. But on the upside, daytime highs are forecast to warm up into the low 40s starting Wednesday and nighttime lows will also remain above freezing.
Breezy conditions are also in the forecast with gusts up to 25 mph possible Wednesday night.
The rain and rising temperatures are expected to result in significant runoff in the northern Blue Mountains. Although no flooding is expected in the large rivers, smaller creeks and streams will likely see rising levels, according to the weather service.
