WALLA WALLA - Wa-Hi's boys swim team easily downed West Valley, 108-59, in a three-dual-meet afternoon at Whitman College's Harvey Pool Tuesday.
Richland picked up a 120-47 victory over West Valley, and Hanford took a 133-36 win from the Rams.
"The boys across the board swam very well," said Wa-Hi coach Brad Daly. "I could look at any one of them and pick out a good swim. All the boys swam really well. I'm really pleased with how they swam. It was a good showing for us."
The Blue Devils jumped out to an early lead with a first and second in the 200 medley relay and won all but one event in the meet.
Jonathan Klem, Austin Garrett and Patrick Giedeman won two events each to pace Wa-Hi in the win.
Klem won the 100 breaststroke in 1:06.15 and the 200 Individual Medley in 20:09.25.
Garrett won the 100 and 200 freestyle swims in 53.10 and 1:59.43, respectively. Giedeman won the 100 fly and 100 backstroke in 1:01.24 and 1:02.73, respectively.
"We have a good group of leaders, they do a good job leading the team," Daly said.
Josh Bumgarner won the 500 freestyle in 5:54.07.
The Blue Devil's took the top two placings in the 200 relay. The first team, comprised of Klem, Bumgarner, Giedeman and Austin Garrett took first in 1:53.67. The second team, including Wiley Anderson, Zach Staudenmaier, Max Troin and Matt Wilwand was second in 2:09.61.
In the 200 relay, Klem, Troin, Giedeman and Garrett were first in 1:39.93.
The Blue Devils also won the last event of the night in the 400 relay, with Staudenmaier, Gabe Anderson, Wiley Townsend and Bumgarner finishing in 4:02.09, almost 28 seconds ahead of West Valley's 4:30.96.
The only event Wa-Hi didn't take in the near-sweep was the 50 freestyle. West Valley's Tim Gibson won in 25.76 and Wa-Hi's Zach Staudenmaier was second in 25.93.
Wa-Hi travels to the Kentridge Invitational at the King County Aquatic Center Saturday. About 30 teams will be at the event.
