LACROSSE - Touchet's boys felt the absence of Jake Hodnefield in the third quarter, as host Lacrosse-Washtucna outscored the Indians 24-10 in the stanza and rode that margin to a 57-54 Southeast 1B victory Tuesday night.

Hodnefield picked up two quick first-quarter fouls, and his third in late in the second quarter. Touchet held a 25-20 halftime lead.

"He sat for the third quarter, and that's when (Lacrosse-Washtucna) made its run," Touchet coach Tim McKeown said.

The Indians outscored the Tigercats 19-13 in the final quarter, but couldn't erase the third-quarter deficit.

"You can see the difference he made in the fourth quarter," McKeown said.

Matt Kates led Touchet with 23 points, while Vicente Flores put up 17.

Jeff Zimmer's 17 led L-W, with Darcy Stamper and Jake Aune scoring 12 apiece.

"It would be nice to have more balanced scoring out of everybody," McKeown said.

The Indians, now 3-7 overall and 1-5 in Southeast 1B play, host Tekoa-Oakesdale at 7:30 p.m. Friday.
