COLLEGE PLACE - Walla Walla Valley Academy's boys basketball team defeated Liberty Christian for the first time since joining the Southeast 2B League with a 51-46 win Tuesday night.

"We played a very solid defensive game," said WWVA assistant coach Paul Starkebaum.

The Knights led 24-12 at the half and held off the Patriots' 25-point third-quarter rally.

"We were able to hold off the run and play tough at the end to win," Starkebaum said.

Daniel Lomeland, James Beck and Alexander Wagner all hit late 3s in the win.

The Knights were led by Matt Moore's 16 points.

"He had some big steals late that lead to fast breaks to help seal the victory," Starkebaum said.

The Knights evened their record at 5-5. They're off until next Tuesday when they host Asotin.
