Green Lantern to air Seahawks game Sunday

The Fox station may be black for local DirecTV customers. But those who are Seattle Seahawks fans can look to The Green for this weekend's playoff game.

Isaacs Avenue bar The Green Lantern will be open at 10 a.m. Sunday when the Seahawks play the Chicago Bears, said General Manager Dave Brown. The business at 1606 Isaacs Ave. carries both Charter Cable and DirecTV, so availability of the game has not been affected by the blackout, Brown said.

Many Eastern Washington subscribers of DirecTV have been unable to view games and any other Fox programming since the start of the year.

Fox carriers KAYU of Spokane and KFFX of Yakima went black after their parent company, Northwest Broadcasting Inc., failed to reach a contract agreement with the satellite provider by the end of December when their 10-year contract expired.

According to news reports, both sides continue negotiations. At the heart are several details that come down to money.
