PREP BOYS BASKETBALL Touchet falters in fourth

TOUCHET - It was a frustrating night for Touchet's boys basketball team Friday as a fourth-quarter lead evaporated and Touchet dropped a Southeast 1B League clash at home to Tekoa-Oakesdale, 57-49.

A trio of Indians fouled out in a fourth quarter that saw T-O turn a six-point Touchet lead into an eight-point win for the visitors.

"Yeah, it's frustrating," said Touchet head coach Tim McKeown. "To lose three guys when you aren't a deep team, you are a young, and you have a shot at winning, is tough. We're a pressing team, but at one point in the first quarter I looked up and it was 9-1 in team fouls. I think that says a lot about tonight."

Max Mueller had a monster night for T-O, dropping 27 points and 19 rebounds to guide his team to the win, while Jake Hodnefield led Touchet with 17.

"I've been telling Jake he needs to shoot more, and we got that from him tonight," McKeown said. "He had a great game, but beyond him and Matt Kates (17 points) we didn't have a whole lot of offense."

The loss dropped Touchet to 3-8 on the season and 1-6 in league play.

"We've been in every one of last five games," McKeown said. "We just have to put it together, which will come as we continue to progress. This team is going to get better."
