POMEROY - A big third quarter for Colton's boys basketball team wound up costing Pomeroy 48-37, in a close matchup.

Dustin Patchen's 22 points paced Colton as the Pirates struggled coming out of the break and were never able to make a strong threat at taking back the lead in the fourth quarter.

"You gotta give them credit for how they came out in the third," said Pomeroy head coach Brian Koller. "We were pretty much going back and forth."

Pomeroy is 3-10 overall and 2-6 in league, was led by the 12 points and nine rebounds of Justin Ruark.

Mack Wolf dished out four assists for the Pirates.

"Offensively we moved the ball better than we have at times, but we still need to work on turning it over less," Koller said. "They just took control of the game, and we couldn't get it back."

Pomeroy hosts powerhouse Rosalia on Friday.
