ATHENA - Weston-McEwen escaped with a 39-35 win over Heppner in Blue Mountain Conference girls basketball action Saturday night.

The TigerScots were just 7-of-26 from the charity stripe.

"Any win is a good win," said Weston-McEwen coach Amber Doremus. "But both teams had a lot of turnovers and poor free-throw shooting, so we were glad to get out of there with a win. But we are going to be working on our free throws."

The TigerScots are 4-2 in league and 6-9 overall.

Jaymie Zimmerman and Tiffani Cain led W-M with 16 boards apiece. Zimmerman added 11 points for a double-double.

The TigerScots play Friday at Pilot Rock and host Union Saturday. W-M hopes to avenge earlier losses this season to both those teams.
