ROYAL CITY - Of five Pomeroy wrestlers competing in the Royal City Rumble on Saturday, three walked away weight-class champions.

Tory Knebel defeated Francisco Cuevas of Wahluke, Zach Grimm from Burbank and Cody Johns from Wilbur-Creston to win at 160 pounds.

Wyatt Jenkins topped Juan Guiterrez from Othello, Richy Silverio from Wahluke and Damien Dellarosa from Royal City to win the 171-pound championship.

Austin Reisdorph won against Brandon Buche from Almira/Coulee-Hartline and Stephen Lawsen from Wahluke for the 189-pound title.

Pirates' Tyler King and Jose Cruz wrestled but did not place.

"Wyatt (Jenkins) has been second probably three times this year, so he had a good day," said Pomeroy coach Derek Shawley.

Only five wrestlers competed due to match limits, Shawley said.

The grapplers have a week off before their next match at Kittitas Saturday.

After Kittitas, the Pirates have two regular-season meets left before post-season action begins.
