Maurilio Lopez passed away on Friday, Jan. 14, 2011, in his home in
College Place.

He was born on April 4, 1942, to Trinidad Lopez and Leonor Gutierrez in Villa Escalante, Michoacan, Mexico. He married his wife of 46 years, Celia Casarez Angel, also of Villa Escalante, Mexico. Together they had seven children, four girls and three boys.

A devoted husband, father, grandfather and friend, he enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. Maurilio worked for many years in the Milton-Freewater apple orchards and the surrounding areas
as well as Tyson foods. He enjoyed working hard and the companionship of his fellow co-workers. He always greeted everyone with a smile.

He is survived by his wife, Celia; three sons, Maurilio Jr, Gabino and Fransisco; four daughters, Sonia, Alejandra, Myrna and Horalia; nine grandchildren, Jonathan, Ramon, Nadia, Jamie, Dylan, Maury and Erik; and two sisters, Guadalupe and Agustina. He is preceded in death by his parents, five brothers and sisters.

Viewing and visitation will be held on Wednesday, Jan. 19, 2011, from 10 a.m. until 8 p.m. at the Herring Groseclose Funeral Home, 315 W. Alder, Walla Walla. Memorial contributions may be made to the Providence St. Mary Regional Cancer Center through the funeral home.
