WALLA WALLA -- Walla Walla Public Schools is cautioning families about a possible luring incident that occurred near Sharpstein Elementary last week.
Two students from Sharpstein reported being approached by a white man in a green car Friday as they walked home from school along Howard Street. The man reportedly asked the students if they wanted a ride, and drove off when the students refused, according to a district news release.
The man was described as in his 30s, with brown hair, freckles and possibly a speech impediment. The Walla Walla Police Department was notified and is investigating.
Parents and staff are reminded to discuss stranger danger procedures with children and to instruct them to never get in cars with strangers. Parents should always immediately contact police and follow up with the school regarding this type of incident, the district reports.
