Sheehan hosts work by instructors

Sheehan Gallery will host an exhibition for new and returning Whitman College studio art, art history and visual culture studies faculty through Feb. 18.

There will be an artist lecture by Sita Bhaumik at 5:30 p.m. Friday in Olin Hall 130 with an introduction by exhibit curator Jan Christian Bernabe, visiting assistant professor of art history and visual culture studies. "Techniques: Contemporary Asian American Time-Based Art" is a group exhibition of Asian American women artists working with photography, film, and digital technologies. An opening celebration will follow in Sheehan Gallery.

There will be an artist lecture by Justin Lincoln, assistant professor of art, at noon Feb. 4 in Olin Hall 130 with a walking tour of the Sheehan Gallery to follow. Lincoln reconfigures videos, text, sounds and still images posted on the Internet as a kind of ongoing sketchbook.

There will be an artist lecture by Michelle Acuff, assistant professor of art at 2 p.m. Feb. 11 in Olin Hall 130. According to her artist statment, Acuff's exhibit, titled "Surrogate," is composed of sculptural works about our tenuous connection to the natural world.

Sheehan Gallery hours are noon to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday and noon to 4 p.m. Saturday and Sunday.
