$n$ Burbank boys basketball wins narrow game over Kiona-Benton 52-50

BURBANK - Mike Phelps' uncontested layin as the fourth-quarter buzzer sounded lifted visiting Kiona-Benton to a 52-50 victory over Burbank here Friday night in a boys South Central Conference Eastern Division basketball game.

Phelps finished the night with 19 points to lead the Bears while the Coyotes' Nathan Roberts took game scoring honors with 20 points. Anfernee Cortez was also in double figures for Ki-Be with 17 points while Tanner Woody added 14 points to Burbank's offensive attack.

Burbank fell behind by seven points, 11-5, after one quarter but scored 17 points in each of the next two quarters to forge a 39-32 lead. But the Bears outscored the Coyotes 20-11 over the game's final eight minutes to pull out the victory.

The Coyotes, who lost 74-61 at Mabton on Thursday, slipped to 7-9 overall and 3-5 in the SCC East heading into their next game Tuesday at home against Connell.
