DAYTON - Dayton's girls basketball team found its offensive stroke here Friday while also flexing its defensive muscles in a 46-32 Southeast 2B District win over Tri-Cities Prep.

The Bulldogs were paced by 17 points from Nicole Lambert, who also chipped in eight boards.

"Nicole was great tonight," said Dayton head coach Scott Hudson. "This was the kind of defense we knew we are capable of playing."

After a slow offensive start, Dayton stepped up its game with a 13 point second quarter that put the Bulldogs on top 21-11 at halftime.

"We struggled to hold the lead," Hudson said. "Still, our girls played a really strong game. They never quit."

Dayton outrebounded T-C Prep in spite of a significant height disadvantage.

"I was really pleased with how we boxed out," Hudson said. "Our girls worked really hard on the glass. We have a lot to build upon from tonight."
