POMEROY - A 20-5 surge in the first quarter powered Pomeroy's girls basketball team to a 57-38 victory over Rosalia here Friday night in a Southeast 1B District counter.

"We came out and played hard," Pomeroy coach Nettie Severs said. "Our girls played well on both ends of the floor."

Pomeroy was paced by 22 points from Karlie Martin. Haylee Koller was also in double figures for the Pirates with 10 points, and Kindsey BVott just missed with an eight-point game.

"Karlie was great," Severs said. "She carried us tonight. She had a major impact on the game."
