ATHENA - Weston-McEwen's boys' 66-36 Blue Mountain Conference basketball victory over Union here Saturday evening wasn't as easy as the final score indicates, at least for the first eight minutes.

"They came out and played pretty well for the first quarter," W-M coach Brian Pickard said. "We hit a 3 at the end of the quarter (to make it 19-11).

"In the second quarter, our press forced them into turnovers and we got some transition baskets."

The TigerScots had four players in double figures scoring, with Tyler Babb leading with 16, Ron Terjeson and Dallas Reich at 14, and Miles Thul at 13.

"I was impressed with how we played defense and passed the ball," Pickard said, noting the 21 assists W-M compiled in the victory.

W-M, now 13-4 overall and 7-1 in league, hosts the second-ranked team in the state in Enterprise on Friday night in a rematch the TigerScots won earlier this season.
