DAYTON - Waitsburg-Prescott's girls basketball team continued its dominating season, running its record to 12-0 overall and 7-0 in the Southeast 2B League with a 58-37 win over Dayton here Saturday.

Dionna Baker led W-P with 20 points and Megan Withers added 15 points, eight rebounds and three assists.

"We held with them for the first quarter, but they just started hitting their shots, and we didn't," said Dayton head coach Scott Hudson. "I'm still very proud of our girls because we played a solid game, but they have a great team."

W-P outscored Dayton (3-11, 2-5) in every quarter, landing a decisive blow in the second when the squad stretched its lead to double figures.

"(Dayton head coach) Jerry Baker told me after the game that we outplayed them," Hudson said. "That's not as good as a win, but it's still a compliment, especially coming from a coach with such a strong team."

Dayton was lead by 15 points from McKayla Bickelhaupt, but 27 turnovers plagued the Bulldogs.

"Even though we lost, I couldn't be happier with our performance," Hudson said. "Our girls never gave up."

Next on the slate for W-P is a home matchup versus Touchet on Tuesday, while Dayton takes on Walla Walla Valley Academy on the road Thursday.
