$n$ Weston-McEwen girls ride defense past Union

ATHENA - It was a dominant defensive performance on Saturday for Weston-McEwen as the TigerScots limited Union to 27 points in a seven-point, 34-27, home victory.

W-M limited Union to seven points in the first half and manintained its lead during a fourth quarter that saw the TigerScots (7-10 overall, 5-3 in Blue Mountain Conference play) briefly give up the lead.

"We had a really good defensive start, and we were able to ride that to a win," said W-M head coach Amber Doremus. "It wasn't easy, but we pulled it off."

Shaelin Youncs led W-M with seven points and 10 rebounds, while Morgan Entze added four assists.

The game came down to free throws for W-M, which hit 6-of-6 in the fourth quarter.

"We were really strong at the line in the final quarter," Doremus said. "We did what we needed to do to close the game out."

Up next for W-M is a Friday home game against Enterprise.
