$n$ Pirates fourth at Coyote Classic wrestling meet

KITTITAS - Pomeroy finished fourth here in wrestling action at the Coyote Classic Saturday.

Kittitas claimed the team title in a 12-team field.

Tory Knebel wrestling at 160 pounds ran his season record to 26-1 and won his fifth tourney championship with a perfect 3-0 record to win the 160 class.

Knebel won all three matches by pin including the championship match as he pinned Okanagan's Ethan Colbert in the first round to win the title.

At 189, Austin Reisdorph lost the title match to Pateros' Dalton Ginter by pin.

Jacob Moore took home second in the 140-pound class. Moore lost to Cashmere's Dillon Miller 11-4.

Nick Tewalt also took a second place ribbon for the Pirates. Tewalt lost 17-2 to Kittitas' Cesar Espinoza in the 135 class.

At 215, Mikey Wymore finished 2-2 for the tournament and earned fourth place points for Pomeroy.

"It was a good tourney," Pirate coach Derek Shawley said. "We saw a lot of kids we hadn't seen. Some of our younger wrestlers got beat, but it was good for them as it will prepare them for the post season."

Pomeroy wrestles in Walla Walla Tuesday.
