BAKER CITY, Ore. - A 27-point second-quarter outburst buried Mac-Hi here Saturday night as the Pioneers lost to Baker 78-27 in a boys Greater Oregon League basketball game.

The Pioneers were trailing 16-7 after one quarter, but the Bulldogs used second-shot opportunities to outscore Mac-Hi 27-4 in the second eight-minute period and build an insurmountable 43-11 lead at halftime.

"We just couldn't match their intensity," first-year Mac-Hi coach Sean Oliver said. "It was 10-to-2 fouls in their favor at the end of the first quarter, and my guys kind of backed up. We didn't box out. Playing on the road is tough."

Mac-Hi was paced by Ricky Sandoval, who scored eight points. Ricky Angel added seven points and Oscar Flores finished with six.
