PALOUSE - Pomeroy's girls basketball teams scored a Southeast 1B League win, 43-28, on the road over Garfield-Palouse Friday behind a big night from HayLee Koller.

The junior notched 14 points, six rebounds, six assists and eight steals to lead Pomeroy in all four categories.

"That was probably HayLee's best game of the year," said Pomeroy head coach Nettie Severs. "She really put on quite a performance."

Pomeroy (14-3 overall, 8-3 league) locked down Gar-Pal in the first quarter while building an 11-4 lead.

"We were a little worried because pretty much everyone on the team has been battling the flu," Severs said. "Still, all our girls made it to class and were able to play."

In the second half, the Pirates were able to stretch the lead thanks in large part to a defensive attack that held Gar-Pal to 11 points in the final 16 minutes.

"Our defense was excellent all night," Severs said. "I was so proud of the heart we showed."

Pomeroy hosted Tekoa-Oakesdale on Saturday.
