Touchet girls pick up 39-18 win over Lacrosse-Washtucna Friday

TOUCHET - Lacrosse-Washtucna sank two banked 3-pointers in the first quarter, but wasn't able to keep up the pace in a 39-18 loss to Touchet in Southeast 1B girls basketball action Friday night.

The Indians led 10-8 after the first quarter, when coach Mike Giusti told his team he doubted the Tigercats could keep the 3s up.

"And the first shot in the second, they banked it in," Giusti said.

But the three stood alone for the guests, and Touchet went into the half with a 20-11 lead.

"We played pretty good defense," Giusti said. "We did some man press and zone press and did a lot of stuff to put a little distance between us."

Touchet held the Tigercats to one point in the third and cruised to the win with an 11-6 fourth quarter.

Logan Harder led Lacrosse-Washtucna with seven points, while Carley Frazier posted 16 for the Indians.

"It was a good win for us, and we're looking forward," Giusti said, anticipating Saturday's game with Garfield-Palouse.

They have three regular-season games left to play, against Colton, St. John-Endicott and Pomeroy.

"They're all tough," Giusti said. "But we control our own destiny as far as making playoffs."
