POMEROY - Pomeroy's boys basketball team just barely held on at home against Tekoa-Oakesdale when a buzzer-beater attempt by T-O's Joseph Tampien couldn't find the bottom of the net in a Southeast 1B game on Saturday night. Pomeroy won 54-53.

The Pirates were lead by 15 points from Mitch Ruchert and 13 from Justin Ruark.

"Everyone that played for us scored," said Pomeroy head coach Brian Koller. "Still, we almost lost a double-digit lead."

The Pirates lead by a dozen in the third quarter, but T-O started chipping away until the gap was down to one on the final possession.

"A win is a win," Koller said. "There's not much else to say beyond that."

The victory runs Pomeroy's record to 5-13 overall and 4-8 in league play. The Pirates next play at Touchet on Friday.
