HEPPNER - The Weston-McEwen boys picked up a 43-39 Blue Mountain Conference win over Heppner, hanging on to second place in the conference.

Heppner ran to a 17-10 lead in the first quarter and closed the half up 24-20.

But Matt McGill came out after the half ready to push.

"He was key in the middle of the second half," said W-M coach Brian Pickard. "He started to push the tempo and kept pushing the ball. He made some great passes on fast breaks and set us up for easy baskets. He was big for us."

McGill had three assists on the night.

Tyler Babb led the TigerScots with 17 points. He was 5-for-5 in free throws in the second half, when Heppner started to intentionally foul.

"He's the guy we want to have at the line," Pickard said.

The TigerScots have four league games left on the season before beginning districts. They host Pilot Rock Friday.
