Mule Mania to stampede into Dayton

The event will coincide with the Dayton Alumni Weekend.

DAYTON - Area mule enthusiasts are teaming up with Coyote Mule Company, Columbia REA and the Dayton Chamber of Commerce to bring a new event to Dayton on July 14-17.

Mule Mania will coincide with the Dayton Alumni Weekend, and mules will join alumni in the annual Alumni Parade at 10 a.m. Saturday.

The mule and donkey show will provide the public an opportunity to learn the qualities and versatility of these animals. Competition classes include Western and English pleasure, dressage, trail, cattle and driving.

Other events include a Chuck Wagon Association cook-off competition Friday and Saturday evenings and "The Gathering," vendors and booths displaying and selling western items.

There will be live music, and a beer and wine garden. A Cowboy Church is scheduled Sunday.

The Dayton Mule Ryder Cup will be the first golf tournament to bring mule riders and local golf enthusiasts together in a 3-person scramble on seven holes.

Admission is free. Except for the parade, all activities are at the Columbia County Fairgrounds.
