Bears place third at Yak tourney

YAKIMA - The Walla Walla Bears took third place in the Yakima Beetle Firecracker Tournament, posting a 6-1 win over Bellevue Honda on Sunday.

Ryan James went the distance for the Bears, allowing only four hits over seven innings, and Jake Campeau and Conner Holbrook each had two hits on the day. Campeau provided a two-run double, hitting behind Holbrook in the lineup to lead the offense.

Drew Christina and Mike Pontarolo were named to the All Tournament team.

Walla Walla will host its annual Sweet Invitational, which features 16 regional teams, Thursday through Sunday.

The Bears are 18-7 overall with the win.
