WALLA WALLA -- A house fire Sunday injured two people, the Walla Walla Fire Department reported today.
The blaze in the two-story structure at 214 N. Park St. was reported at 6:45 a.m., said Capt. Todd Stubblefield. A man and a woman who escaped out a second-story window were taken to a local hospital for treatment. Stubblefield said firefighters described the victims' injuries as serious, but had no further information.
Firefighters were able to bring the flames under control after about a half hour, but the structure suffered major damage. The fire also damaged an attached garage and a residence behind the structure. The cause of the fire remained under investigation today.
American Red Cross volunteers from the Blue Mountain Chapter were called to provide assistance to the family.
