Walla Walla resident Joe Robert Bush, 60, passed from this life
June 27, 2011, at Sacred Heart Medical Center in Spokane. He was born on Oct. 19, 1950, to E.C. "Clarence" and Helen (Berry) Bush in Sunnyside, Wash. Joe grew up in Mabton, Wash., and graduated from Mabton High School in 1969. He received his B.S. from Oregon Institute of Technology in 1974, and later received his masters from the University of Idaho in 1995.

Joe and his high school sweetheart, J. Kathryne "Kattie" (Sharpe), married on June 26, 1971. They were together for their 40th anniversary in the hospital. Joe and Kattie lived in Oregon and later in Sunnyside, Wash., until 1984, when they moved to Walla Walla. Joe was employed by Walla Walla Community College, Baker Boyer Bank, and most recently the Columbia County Farm Bureau (AgLink).

Joe loved the outdoors and spent time hunting and fishing. He and Kattie took several trips on their motorcycle to various states and Canada. Most of all, he loved being with his family. Joe was a longtime believer in Jesus Christ as his Savior and was an active
member and ministry leader at Trinity Baptist, his church of over 26 years. He led small groups and trained many other ministry leaders over the years.

Joe is survived by his lifelong love, Kattie; daughter of LeRoy and Juanez (Harris) Sharpe; his daughter, Sarah (Bush) Johnson and son-in-law Brandon Johnson; his son, Jacob Bush and daughter-in-law
Natalie (Nemec) Bush; his brother, Rodney Bush of Yuma, Ariz.; his sister, Phyllis (Bush) Sterbenz of Yakima; and six grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents, Clarence and Helen (Berry) Bush of Yakima; and his brother, Jerry Bush of Liberty Lake, Wash.

The funeral service will begin at 11 a.m. on Saturday, July 9, 2011, at Trinity Baptist Church, 595 Abbott Road, Walla Walla, with a public viewing at
10 a.m. also at the church. A private family burial
will follow the service. Memorial contributions may be made to Baker Boyer Bank, Joe Bush Memorial Fund through the Herring Groseclose Funeral Home, 315 W. Alder, Walla Walla, WA 99362.
