WALLA WALLA -- Warnings against swimming in Bennington Lake remained posted today as officials continued testing for bacterial contamination.
Signs advising people not to swim or drink from the lake were posted last week when moderately high E. coli samples were detected.
Steve Doherty of the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers said the latest test results should be known by this afternoon. Testing is being done by the Walla Walla County Health Department.
The lake last week showed a measure of 175 parts per 100 milliliters for E. coli. The state threshold is 126 parts per 100 milliliters.
