Bruins sweep Walleyes

MOSES LAKE - The Walla Walla Bruins swept a pair from the Moses Lake Walleyes Monday, taking 5-4 and 10-7 victories.

The wins improve the Bruins to 25-11 overall and 11-5 in AA American Legion play.

Luke Flippo hit a bases-loaded, RBI single in the fifth inning for the Bruins' go-ahead run in game one.

"There was a lot of pressure on him and he clutched up for us," said Bruins coach Jason Parsons.

The run clinched the 5-4 win.

Luke Reardon started game two on the mound for the Bruins, but had to exit after the first inning with back issues.

Will Parnicky finished the game for the 10-7 win.

"He did a very nice job," Parsons said of the pitcher.

Overall, the Bruins amassed 23 hits on the day.

"We hit the ball pretty well (Monday)," Parsons said. "Taylor Lemke, especially, is really hitting well."

Lemke led both teams with five hits.

The Bruins host the Kennewick Junior Bandits at 5:30 tonight at Walla Walla Community College in a rescheduled square-up.
