Jared Dean Joy passed away July 4, 2011, in Fultondale, Ala. Jared
was born Sept. 9, 1975, in Walla Walla. He was the son of Marilyn Joy-Lane and lived in Athena as a small child. He later moved with his mother and sister to Medford, Ore. He was a member of the Church of
Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. Jared went on a church mission to Melbourne, Australia. His mission was a Vietnamese speaking one where he learned to speak the language. Jared enjoyed working with his
hands and learned many trades. Carpenter, roofer, contracting and recently he worked as a glazier for which he was merited much responsibility in each of his trades. Jared had a very strong work ethic.
He is survived by his fiance, Kishia Carlton of Birmingham, Ala.; his daughter, Emma Joy of Fultondale, Ala.; mother, Marilyn Joy-Lane of Medford,Ore.; father, Allen Barnett of Roseburg, Ore.; great-grandmother, LouElla Ross; grandparents, Jack and Stella Joy of Cheyene, Wyo.; paternal grandmother, Opal Barnett of Weston; aunt, Sandra Mikesell of Tooele, Utah; uncle, Russell Joy of Kallispell, Mont.; aunt, Darla Kelly of Walla Walla; and numerous cousins.
Graveside services will be held at 1 p.m. on Thursday, July 14, 2011, in the Athena Cemetery. The family would like to invite all those who knew and loved Jared to attend.
