Library hosts weapons, armor demonstration

Visitors will have an opportunity to hold medieval weapons and wear armor. The Knights of Veritas will conduct the program.

Columbia County Rural Library District and the Friends of the Dayton Memorial Library present a program from the Knights of Veritas, "Putting History in Your Hands!", 6-30-8 p.m. July 22 at the Dayton Memorial Library, 111 S. 3rd St.

The Knights of Veritas is a non-profit charitable organization specializing in interactive educational demonstrations of medieval arms, armor, combat, knighthood and chivalry. The presentation offers entertainment, excitement and enlightenment, as well as a fun way to learn about history.

The Code of Chivalry will be introduced to the audience and myth will be pitted against fact with demonstrations of historical combat technique. There will be authentically weighted and detailed steel swords and armor. Audience members will have an opportunity to handle the weapons and try on the armor.

Refreshments will be provided following the performance. Audience members should bring chairs or blankets for seating outside. For more information, call 382-4131.
