WALLA WALLA -- A man who allegedly had sex with an underage girl last summer and possessed child pornography on his cellphone this month pleaded innocent Monday afternoon in Superior Court to 10 felonies.

Jesus Torres Almeida, 21, of 467 N.E. Carey Court, College Place, is scheduled for trial Sept. 20 on the charges of second-degree rape of a child, six counts of second-degree possession of depictions of a minor engaged in sexually explicit conduct, and three counts of sexual exploitation of a minor.

Police said they initially arrested Torres Almeida on July 14 for allegedly displaying a dangerous weapon and furnishing liquor to minors.

During the course of that investigation, officials reportedly learned that Torres Almeida's cellphone contained pictures of nude girls. The phone was confiscated and a search warrant was obtained.

At least six pictures -- depicting three girls believed to be younger than 18 -- were found in the phone, in addition to text messages showing communications between him and young females asking them to send nude pictures of themselves, according to a police report filed in court.

Also, Torres Almeida allegedly admitted he had sex with a 13-year-old girl last summer on more than 20 occasions. The girl corroborated Torres Almeida's story and said she broke off the relationship when she found out how old he was, the police report says.

Torres Almeida is being held in the County Jail in lieu of $100,000 bail.
