What's Going Up? - 07/26/11

What: Dayton's Blue Mountain Station.

Timeline: Phase I of a four-phase project is expected to be complete within the month. Phase I consists of land and infrastructure, water and sewer connections for the much longer-term project.

Details: Blue Mountain Station is a planned natural and organic specialty food processing park, according to Port of Columbia Manager Jennie Dickinson. "This is for those small specialty food processors, like Chukar Cherries or Bob's Red Mill, that add value to ag products," she said.

Cost: Phase I is $1.13 million. Dickinson estimates the cost of the build-out through the next 10 years will be about $25-$30 million. They are considering many options for funding, from revenue bonds to private investment to multi-tenant buildings.
