Jerolyn S. "Jeri" Bishop, Milton-Freewater, passed away July 4, 2011, at her home at the age of 59 years. Memorial services will be Saturday, July 30, at 11 a.m., at the First Baptist Church in Milton-Freewater with Pastor Roland Shanks officiating. Private inurnment will be in the Milton-Freewater Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the First Baptist Church through the Munselle-Rhodes Funeral Home, 902 S. Main St., Milton-Freewater, OR 97862.
Jeri was born Nov. 29, 1951, in Walla Walla, the daughter of Harold G. and Violet N. McSherry Bishop. She attended Prospect Point Grade School, Pleasant View Grade School, and graduated from McLoughlin High School in Milton-Freewater in 1970. She then attended the University of Oregon, graduating in 1974. Jeri then began teaching at Ferndale Grade School, later moving to Pleasant View Grade School. She loved her students and was always happy to see them in later years. She also had worked at the M-F Golf Course, M-F Supper Club and the M-F Elks Club where she enjoyed exchanging trivia questions with the patrons. Jeri enjoyed spending time with family, especially her nieces and nephews. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Milton-Freewater.
She is survived by a sister, Dorothy Melton of Milton-Freewater; a sister-in-law, Kathy Bishop of Milton-Freewater; three nieces, Kimberly Forster, Jennifer Bishop and Jill Banks, all of Milton-Freewater; two nephews, Kyle Melton of Heber City, Utah, and Jeff Bishop of Milton-Freewater; six great nieces and nephews. Jeri was preceded in death by her parents; and a brother, Don Bishop.
