Debra Basulto


Debra Gonzalez Basulto, 50, of Walla Walla, passed away on July 26,
2011, at her home in College Place, where she resided for the last eight years. Debra was born on April 22, 1961, to Eulalia Guerra and Donato Gonzalez. She was born and raised in the Walla Walla area and attended local schools.

On Dec. 17, 1977, she married Jose Basulto but later they divorced. Debra will most be remembered by her beautiful smile and infectious laughter but most of all, her passion for music and dancing. She also loved to cook and everyone loved her cooking. Debra was also a jokester. She liked making everyone around her laugh. She was a wonderful mother and very devoted grandmother; her grandchildren were the light of her life. Every spare moment of her time, she spent caring for every single one of her grandchildren. Debra was a very family-oriented person. Her doors were always open for family, friends and anyone in need. She was a member of St. Patrick Catholic Church.

Survivors include a son, Steven Gonzalez of Walla Walla; two daughters, Amanda Basulto Lopez (Francisco) and Olivia Basulto (Brandon) both of College Place; one brother, Danny Gonzalez of Milwaukie, Ore.; 12 grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, Donato and Eulalia Gonzalez; and one sister, Angela Garcia.

Viewing and visitation will be held on Sunday, July 31, 2011, from 1 p.m. until after the Rosary at the Herring Groseclose Funeral Home, 315 W. Alder, Walla Walla. The Rosary will be recited on Sunday, July 31, 2011, at 6 p.m. at the Herring Groseclose Funeral Home with Deacon Olegario Reyes officiating. The Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Monday, Aug. 1, 2011, at 10 a.m. at St. Patrick Catholic Church with
Father Gustavo Ruiz, celebrant. Interment will follow at Mountain View Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Debra Basulto Memorial Fund through the funeral home.
