WALLA WALLA -- A shooting between two vehicles resulted in a bullet striking a house near the intersection of East Tietan and South Howard streets.

Walla Walla police officers were dispatched to the area Thursday at 5:40 p.m. for a report of a vehicle chasing another vehicle and shots being fired.

There were no injuries reported, but at least one home was shot, police said.

Milton-Freewater police investigated a similar incident in the 1000 block of Walnut Street just 20 minutes prior; it is believed both shootings were related and involved rival local gangs, according to Walla Walla police.

Officers, detectives and a special teams unit investigated in the area until the early morning hours, interviewing witnesses and possible victims.

A small section of Tietan Street was closed during part of the investigation.

An off-duty emergency dispatcher who was nearly struck by the vehicles made the initial 911 call.

Descriptions of the two vehicles are not being released at this time due to conflicting witness descriptions, police said. Anyone who has information on this shooting is asked to call Walla Walla police at 527-4434.
